What is AI Brackets?
AI Brackets is a revolutionary March Madness app that brings the excitement of tournament brackets to everyone, regardless of their basketball knowledge! Through the power of AI, we've created a platform that lets you generate, customize, and enhance your brackets in ways never before possible.
What makes our app truly special is the ability to create custom genres. Not into basketball? No problem! You can create brackets based on your own interests and expertise - whether that's movies, music, books, or anything else you can imagine. AI Brackets makes March Madness accessible and fun for everyone!
How Was It Built?
AI Brackets was created through an innovative approach called "vibe coding." Incredibly, 95% of the effort went into this vibe coding process, with the code being AI-generated through prompt instructions, including this very page you're reading! We used a combination of OpenAI and Claude models, with Cursor as our development tool.
The initial working product took approximately 20 hours from concept to completion, after which we spent additional time refining it through more vibe coding. The entire process included infrastructure setup with manual configuration of GitHub repositories, Vercel deployment, Cloudflare integration, Redis setup, and DNS/domain management. This project stands as a testament to the incredible possibilities that emerge when human creativity meets AI capabilities.
What's even more fascinating is that all of the copy on the website was written by AI as well, including this very message you're reading right now! From the engaging descriptions to the helpful instructions, every word was crafted by AI models working in collaboration with human guidance.
Why We Built This
Our motivation was two-fold:
- Making March Madness Inclusive: We've always believed that the excitement of filling out brackets shouldn't be limited to basketball fans. The idea of letting people participate by equating brackets to their own specialties has been a dream for years - and with AI, it's finally possible!
- Exploring "Vibe Coding": We wanted to test the capabilities of AI-assisted development by focusing on the overall "vibe" and functionality rather than getting caught in technical details. The result? A fully functional, engaging March Madness app created in a fraction of the time traditional development would require.
